Weekenders Golf Club

About

A competitive golf club without the private-club price tag.

Founded in 1972, the Weekenders are a long-running men’s golf club built around competitive Sunday golf, handicapped matches, strong friendships, and a full-season schedule across public and semi-private courses.

A real season, not a casual league

We are not a casual “same foursome every week” league. The Weekenders play a real season schedule with individual matches, team matches, low-net competition, majors, playoffs, a two-round Club Championship, and a season-ending Players Championship for qualified winners.

The result is a golf club that feels competitive, organized, and personal, without requiring a private club membership.

What makes the Weekenders different

The Weekenders are built for golfers who want more than a random weekend tee time. Across the season, members compete in:

  • Singles match play
  • Doubles / team match play
  • Weekly low-net events
  • Closest to the Pin contests
  • Sica Cup points race
  • Singles and doubles playoffs
  • Club Championship
  • Players Championship

Because pairings and matches change throughout the year, members get to play with and against different golfers across the club. Over time, that creates the best part of the Weekenders: real rivalries, good groups, and friendships that last well beyond one season.

Who the club is for

The Weekenders are a good fit for golfers who:

  • Enjoy organized competition
  • Can play a meaningful part of the Sunday schedule
  • Respect pace of play and golf etiquette
  • Like handicapped formats where different skill levels can compete
  • Want a regular group without paying private-club dues
  • Care about the team and club atmosphere, not just their own score

Our roster includes golfers across a wide handicap range. You do not need to be a scratch player. You do need to enjoy competing, showing up on time, keeping an honest score, and being part of the group.

The season

The club typically plays from April through October, usually every other Sunday, while avoiding major holiday weekends when possible. Some stretches may include back-to-back Sundays depending on the schedule.

A typical season includes regular-season events, playoffs, the Club Championship, and the Players Championship. Members can play a full schedule or choose from membership options depending on availability.

Most members miss a few events each season. A smaller group plays nearly the full schedule. The club works best when members plan to play regularly, but you do not need to make every single event.

How events work

Once you are a member, upcoming events are posted through the club schedule. Members can view event details, tee times, results, standings, and recaps through the club website and app. For most events:

  • Full members are assumed to be playing unless they say otherwise by the deadline
  • Event fees must be paid by the Tuesday before the event
  • Guests may play when space is available
  • Tee times and pairings are posted before the event
  • Official scores and match results are recorded after the round

Members only pay for the events they play, plus annual membership dues.

A club, not just a transaction

The Weekenders are not run like a business trying to mark up every round. Event rates are based on what the club is charged by the course, and the goal is to keep the season competitive, organized, and fair.

The year ends with a club banquet where members and guests can celebrate the season, recognize winners, and hand out awards and prizes. For many members, the banquet is part of what makes the Weekenders feel like a real club instead of just another golf league.

Membership and guest opportunities

The Weekenders are always looking for good golfers, good competitors, and good guys who fit the group.

Event policies

Event entry

Full members are automatically marked as attending each event unless they say otherwise by the event deadline. Independent or limited-schedule members should register in advance so the club can provide accurate counts to the course.

Payment deadline

Green fees must be paid by the Tuesday prior to each event.

Cancellation policy

Green fees are refunded or credited when the golf course does not charge the club. If a player cancels late and the course charges the club, that cost may be passed along to the player.

Weather policy

If an event is cancelled due to weather, fees will be credited to the player’s account or refunded.
